Selamawit Alene

Selamawit Alene is a talented  interior, jewelry, and floral designer whose work reflects a deep appreciation for heritage, craftsmanship, and beauty. Her design journey began  in 2000 when she joined her sister’s St. George Art Gallery, where she quickly became an integral part of the creative direction and later, a co-owner of the gallery.

Driven by a passion to expand her vision, Selamawit launched her own project in 2018-Golla  art Gallery. At the heart of this endeavor was the renovation of a registered heritage home with Armenian architectural roots, originally built in the early 19th century by Mussie Kachick during the reign of Emperor Menelik II. Although the building was in a deteriorated state, Selamawit’s unwavering dedication and artistic eye brought it back to life.

Today Golla Art Gallery, located in the lush and peaceful Golla Park in Addis Ababa, stands as a testament to her vision. It is more than just a gallery-it is a cultural sanctuary surrounded by greenery, offering a tranquil venue for art lovers, creatives, and community gatherings.

Selamawit’s work continues to honor tradition while embracing contemporary design.
