Berhan Asmamaw

Berhan Asmamaw, born on November 1, 1980, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is an accomplished Ethiopian artist with a rich educational background. Holding a B.F.A in Art Education and a Master’s in Visual and Performing Arts from Addis Ababa University, Berhan has also received certifications in French language and teaching. With diverse work experience in education and design, including positions at Kotebe College of Teacher Education and Ambo University, Berhan’s artistic journey extends to international exhibitions, notably in France and Ethiopia. Married with two children, Berhan’s mastery in visual arts has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions, contributing significantly to the vibrant art scene in Ethiopia.
Ayele Assefa

Landscapes and cityscapes inspire Ayele Assefa to create his visual art works. Assefa’s paintings usually include religious themes or religious figures such as monks or priests.
Assefa was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 1962. He graduated from the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design of Addis Ababa University in 1980. In the pursuit to diversity and to refine his artistic talent, he joined the Kier State Institute of Arts USSR in 1982 and graduated in 1989.
Assefa’s work has been recognized by numerous national newspapers and he is considered to be a prominent artist in the Ethiopia art world. His works have been exhibited at the Kiev State of Arts USSR, National Museum, Addis Ababa Hilton, Russian Center for Science, United States among others.
Ameneshewa Admassu

Colorful zigzags and stripes what make a first attractive impression to Ameneshewa Admassu paintings. Born 8th of October 1970 in Asmara Eritrea. Ameneshewa has fallen into the love of art since early ages. When he moved to Dessie Ethiopia he started and finished his primary education in Ethiopia then moved with his family to Cuba as a teenager. At that time Ameneshewa was growing and developing the love of art and paintings and when he finished high school. He joined Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA) in Havana Cuba and acquired BA in fine art painting and sketcher professor. Since then Ameneshewa has made a lot of remarkable paintings and exhibited different exhibitions later on. Ameneshewa acquired MA in fine art in Castlla La Mancha University, Cuenca, Spain. When Ameneshewa finally came back to EthiopiaAddis Ababa he joined Addis Ababa University as a lecturer in Painting. Drawing and Manual Design Drawing.
Amare Selfu

Amare has exhibited his work nationally and internationally. After graduating in 2004 from Addis Ababa University School of Fine Arts and Design (SFAD) with SFAD’s highest honor (known as the “Gold Medal”) he began teaching at SFAD and become a lecturer and taught Painting and Drawing. In 2010, he was appointed Chair of the Painting Department and Curator of SFAD’s Art Gallery. He also co-founded Point Fine Arts and Design Studio P.L.C. During this time, as general manager he oversaw and worked on several high-profile design and fine art projects, including a large scale mosaic work located at the main building entrance of the National Museum of Ethiopia. In March 2012, he moved to Maryland to pursue an MFA in Studio Art at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and graduated in August 2015. He currently teaches an undergraduate course at MICA and Montgomery College.
Alemayehu Biratu

Alemayehu Biratu, Born in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, Graduated from Alle Fine Art School (AAUSFAD), in BFA in Sculpture and MFA in Fine Arts..Alemayehu’s work capture and depict the day to day affairs of the city by connecting the monuments, buildings and the facades that are main features of the present day Addis Ababa as well as the historical buildings along with human characters and their emotions. His current project and research focuses on the shift in perspective that came in a moment of clarity one day when marveling the shifting shapes of the clouds. He loves how they are not confined. He decided then and there to adopt the same concepts in his painting he goes with the flow and lets the work lead him
His work and how heavily its influenced by clouds, his fascination with them becomes evident. Using different colors and styles, he paints cloudscapes to depict fate, emotions, vulnerability, hope and symbolism.
